Meet Glenys Mercer – Founder & Creative Director of Flair Floral

With over 25 years of experience in the floral industry, award-winning floral designer Glenys Mercer brings a lifetime of passion, expertise, and creativity to every arrangement she creates. From boutique retail floristry to large-scale wholesale operations, Glenys has worked in every facet of the floral world—designing flowers for weddings, events, corporate functions, and farewells.

Her journey began in Perth, where she co-founded Amici Flowers with her best friend Cathy. Later relocating to Wellington Point in Brisbane, Glenys launched her first solo venture, Glenys Mercer Floral Design, in 2003. After years of successfully running her own studio, she transitioned into the wholesale flower market, gaining invaluable insight into the full supply chain—from local flower farms to the hands of Australia’s top floral designers.

Glenys’ time in wholesale deepened her understanding of seasonal flowers, sustainable floristry, and early-morning market life (hello, 2am starts!). This knowledge now underpins every arrangement she makes—ensuring quality, freshness, and artistry in every stem.

In recent years, Glenys returned to her roots in wedding and event floristry, creating bespoke floral designs across Australia, and styling weddings in Italy and the United Kingdom. In 2021, she founded Flair Floral with a clear vision:

"To create meaningful, lasting memories through beautiful flowers."

The love of flowers runs deep in the Mercer family. Founder Glenys Mercer has proudly passed on her floral passion to both of her daughters. Her eldest, Cassie, works alongside her as her trusted right-hand in the Wellington Point floral studio and on wedding and event installations across Brisbane. Meanwhile, her youngest daughter, Pel, continues the family tradition abroad—working as a florist in Europe and lending her creative skills and digital expertise to Flair Floral’s website and online presence.

Together, they bring a blend of generations, talent, and global inspiration to every floral creation.
