Brunch That Breaks the Rules: Bringing Colour, Flowers & Personality Back to the Table
What if your table didn’t have to match?
What if the flowers were bold, the plates were different, the colours clashed beautifully and every place setting had its own personality?
Welcome to Brunch That Breaks the Rules — a colourful collaboration celebrating flowers, food, handmade design and the simple joy of gathering around a beautiful table.
At Flair Floral, we spend a lot of time creating flowers for weddings, events and celebrations, but we believe everyday entertaining deserves a little magic too. This collaboration gave us the perfect excuse to forget traditional table-styling rules and create something playful, unexpected and full of personality.
Forget Perfect. Make It Personal.
For years, table styling has been about coordinating everything: matching plates, matching glassware, matching napkins and carefully chosen colour palettes.
We decided to do the opposite.
For Brunch That Breaks the Rules, colour is encouraged, flowers appear in unexpected places and handmade pieces are mixed with fresh blooms, fruit, beautiful food and statement tableware.
Pink sits beside orange. Purple meets red. Modern pieces mix with handmade details.
And somehow, it all works.
The secret isn't making everything match. It's creating a table that feels joyful, generous and personal.
Handmade Floral Napkin Rings Take Centre Stage
One of our favourite details from the table is the collection of colourful handmade floral napkin rings.
Each has its own personality, with vibrant flowers, textural details and unexpected colour combinations.
Instead of giving every guest an identical place setting, we love the idea of allowing each setting to be slightly different.
Think of them as jewellery for your table.
They're a small detail that can completely change a simple napkin and plate, and because they're reusable, they can come out again for birthdays, Christmas lunches, dinner parties, long Sunday lunches and spontaneous gatherings with friends.
Our new rule?
Matching is optional. Personality isn't.
Flowers Don't Have to Stay in the Vase
Of course, we couldn't create a Flair Floral table without plenty of flowers.
But this table isn't about one perfectly arranged centrepiece.
Flowers move throughout the tablescape in different heights, shapes, colours and vessels. They sit amongst fruit, handmade pieces, food and tableware, creating the feeling of a table that has evolved organically rather than being overly styled.
It's a philosophy we love bringing to our event work too: flowers should create atmosphere, not simply decorate a space.
How to Create Your Own Rule-Breaking Brunch
You don't need an enormous budget or a cupboard full of designer tableware to recreate the look at home. Start with a neutral tablecloth and then give yourself permission to experiment.
Mix your plates. Bring out coloured glassware. Add fresh flowers in unexpected vessels. Scatter citrus or seasonal fruit through the centre of the table. Use different napkins. Add handmade pieces. Combine colours you wouldn't normally put together.
Most importantly, don't keep adjusting everything until it's perfect.
A great table should make your guests want to sit down, pour a drink, share some food and stay for another hour.
That's the point.
A Creative Collaboration
Brunch That Breaks the Rules brings together the creativity of Flair Floral, Nicola Pinicolada and Petal & Peach Bakery, combining florals, handmade design and delicious food into one gloriously colourful table.
It's a celebration of local creativity and what can happen when different makers bring their ideas together without worrying too much about the traditional rules.
And we have plenty more to show you.
